Zemiakové Placky (Slovak Potato Pancakes)

- 4 large potatoes, peeled and grated
- 1 small onion, grated
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt

Prepare the Potato Mixture
Grate the potatoes and onion into a large bowl.
Squeeze out excess moisture from the grated potatoes using a clean kitchen towel.
Add the egg, flour, salt, and pepper to the potatoes and mix until well combined.

Heat a few tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Take a handful of the potato mixture and flatten it into a round pancake about 1/4 inch thick.
Place the pancake in the hot skillet. Repeat with the remaining mixture, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.

Fry each pancake for 3–5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Transfer the cooked pancakes to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
