- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Jam or poppy seed filling (about 1 cup total)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough
In a small bowl, combine lukewarm milk, a teaspoon of sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
-
Shape the Buns
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
Flatten each piece, place a teaspoon of filling in the center, and fold the dough over to seal, forming a bun.
Place the buns on a parchment-lined steaming tray, leaving some space between them to expand.
-
Steam the Buns
Bring water to a boil in a steamer. Reduce heat to medium and place the buns in the steamer. Cover and steam for 12–15 minutes, or until puffed and cooked through.
Remove the buns carefully and let them cool slightly.
