Ingredients

For the Apples
  • 6 medium apples (firm varieties like Granny Smith or Fuji)
  • 4 cups (1 liter) water
  • 1 cup (200 g) sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice
For the Filling
  • 1 cup (100 g) walnuts, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons (45 g) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
For Garnish
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whipped cream
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) crushed walnuts

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples

    Peel the apples and core them carefully, leaving the bottom intact to hold the filling.

  2. Poach the Apples

    In a large pot, combine water, sugar, cinnamon stick, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil. Add the apples and simmer for 10–15 minutes until tender but not mushy. Remove the apples and let them cool.

  3. Prepare the Filling

    In a bowl, mix the chopped walnuts, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. Stuff the Apples

    Fill the cooled apples with the walnut mixture, packing it firmly into the center.

  5. Chill and Serve

    Place the stuffed apples in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Serve each apple topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of crushed walnuts.
