Ingredients
For the Dough
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (60 g) semolina
- 1/2 cup (120 g) butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) yogurt
- 1/4 cup (50 g) sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) baking powder
For the Syrup
- 2 cups (400 g) sugar
- 2 cups (500 ml) water
- 1 slice lemon

Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, semolina, baking powder, and sugar. Add the softened butter, yogurt, and vanilla extract, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Shape the Hurmašica
Take small portions of the dough and shape them into oval cookies. Press lightly with a fork to create a pattern on top.

Bake the Cookies
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden.

Make the Syrup
While the cookies bake, prepare the syrup. Combine sugar, water, and the lemon slice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Soak the Cookies
Once the cookies are baked, pour the warm syrup over them while they’re still hot. Let the cookies absorb the syrup for at least 2 hours.
Serving
