Tipping is appreciated in Sierra Leone but not mandatory. In restaurants and cafés, leaving around 5–10% of the bill is common if a service charge is not included. Small tips are also given to hotel staff, drivers, and guides.

The official language is English. Krio is widely spoken and serves as a common language across the country. Many local languages are also used in different regions.
