- 6 Chinese fried dough sticks (you tiao), cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/4 cup roasted peanuts, coarsely chopped
- 2 tablespoons dried shrimp (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
For the Sauce
- 4 tablespoons shrimp paste (belacan), toasted
- 4 tablespoons palm sugar or brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon chili paste (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup water

In a small saucepan, combine toasted shrimp paste, palm sugar, tamarind paste, chili paste, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves and the sauce thickens slightly. Set aside to cool.

Place cucumber, jicama, pineapple, green apple, tofu, and fried dough sticks in a large mixing bowl.
