Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup warm water (adjust as needed)
- Fillings of your choice: fresh arugula, sliced tomatoes, mozzarella, prosciutto, grilled vegetables, or any preferred combination
Instructions
-
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add olive oil and warm water, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes at room temperature.
-
Cook the Piada
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle, about 8 inches in diameter.
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook each Piada for 1–2 minutes on each side, until lightly golden and slightly puffed.
-
Assemble the Wraps
Place your chosen fillings in the center of each Piada.
Fold or roll the flatbread around the fillings, keeping them secure.
-
Serve
Serve Piada warm as a snack, lunch, or light dinner. You can enjoy it with a side salad or simply as a handheld wrap.
Serving
Experiment with different fillings to suit your taste. Traditional Italian combinations like prosciutto, arugula, and mozzarella work beautifully, but grilled vegetables or hummus also make delicious variations.
Piada offers a fresh, customizable, and satisfying way to enjoy Italian flavors anytime, making it a perfect addition to your culinary repertoire.
