Tipping

Tipping is appreciated but not always expected in Georgia. In restaurants, around 5–10% is common if a service charge is not included. Small tips are also given to hotel staff, drivers, and guides.

Georgia uses plug types C and F (European standard). The standard voltage is 220 V with a frequency of 50 Hz.

Tap water is generally safe to drink in most areas, including cities like Tbilisi.

Georgia is considered a safe destination for travellers. Petty crime such as pickpocketing can occur in busy areas, but overall crime rates are low. Standard precautions are recommended.

Offices typically operate Monday to Friday, from around 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Shops and restaurants often open daily, including weekends.

The official language is Georgian. Russian is also widely understood, and English is increasingly spoken, especially among younger people and in tourist areas.
