Ingredients
- 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes, peeled
- 1/2 cup (60 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 lb (225 g) ground pork or beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 cup (240 ml) sour cream
- Fresh dill, for garnish
Instructions
-
Prepare the Filling
In a skillet, cook the chopped onion until soft. Mix with ground meat and season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
-
Make the Potato Dough
Grate the peeled potatoes finely. Place in a clean cloth and squeeze out excess liquid. Combine grated potatoes with flour, egg, and salt to form a pliable dough.
-
Form the Dumplings
Take a portion of dough, flatten it in your hand, and place a spoonful of meat filling in the center. Fold the dough over the filling and shape it into an oval, Zeppelin-like form. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
-
Cook the Cepelinai
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Reduce to a gentle simmer and carefully add the dumplings. Cook for 25–30 minutes, until they float to the surface and are cooked through.
-
Prepare the Sauce
In a small pan, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream, combining the flavors.
-
Serve
Place the cooked dumplings on a plate, spoon the bacon-sour cream sauce over them, and garnish with fresh dill.

Serve Cepelinai Delight hot as a hearty main dish. Pair with a side of steamed vegetables or a light salad for balance. Enjoy the warm, savory taste of this Lithuanian classic that brings comfort and tradition to your table.
