Bakabana Recipe

Experience the sweet and tropical delight of Bakabana, a Caribbean-inspired dessert that combines ripe bananas with a crispy, caramelized coating. Perfect as a snack, dessert, or party treat, Bakabana offers a satisfying combination of soft, warm banana and a sweet, crunchy exterior that will delight all ages.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas, peeled and halved lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coating

In a small bowl, mix flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually stir in water until a smooth batter forms. The consistency should be thick enough to coat the bananas but not too runny.

  2. Coat the Bananas

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Dip each banana half into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  3. Fry the Bananas

Carefully place the coated bananas into the hot oil. Fry for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until the coating turns golden brown and crispy. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

  4. Serve

Serve Bakabana warm, as is, or with a drizzle of honey or chocolate sauce for extra sweetness. Optionally, sprinkle with powdered sugar or shredded coconut for added flavor and presentation.

Serving

Bakabana pairs beautifully with ice cream, fresh fruit, or a cup of coffee or tea. Enjoy this tropical treat as a quick snack or a delightful dessert that brings a taste of the Caribbean to your table.
