Ingredients
- 6 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
- 24-30 ladyfinger cookies (savoiardi)
- Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings (optional)

Prepare the Cream
In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler) and whisk continuously for about 5–7 minutes, until the mixture thickens and becomes pale. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mix the Mascarpone
Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the cooled egg mixture until smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks, then fold it into the mascarpone mixture, creating a light and airy cream.

Assemble the Tiramisu
Combine the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur (if using) in a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them too long. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9x13-inch dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and the remaining cream. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
