Originating from the Lorraine region of France, this quiche features a flaky pastry crust filled with a delightful mixture of eggs, cream, cheese, and bacon. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light dinner, Quiche Lorraine is both elegant and comforting.

Ingredients:

1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

6 oz (0.17 kg) bacon, diced

1 cup (0.24 liters) heavy cream

1 cup (0.24 liters) milk

4 large eggs

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup (0.11 kg) Gruyère cheese, grated

1/4 cup (0.03 kg) onion, finely chopped

Instructions:

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim the edges and prick the bottom with a fork. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove and set aside.

Cook the Bacon:

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the diced bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels. In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion until translucent.

Prepare the Filling:

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir in the grated Gruyère cheese, cooked bacon, and sautéed onion.

Assemble the Quiche:

Pour the filling mixture into the pre-baked pie crust. Place the quiche in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.

Cool and Serve:

Allow the quiche to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This will help the filling set properly and make it easier to cut.

Serving:

Serve Quiche Lorraine warm or at room temperature, paired with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables. It also makes a great addition to a brunch buffet or picnic spread.

Quiche Lorraine is a versatile and elegant dish that can be enjoyed any time of the day. With its rich flavors and creamy texture, this classic French quiche is sure to impress your family and guests.
