Pavlova (Crispy Meringue Dessert)

Experience the delicate elegance of Pavlova, a classic dessert that combines a crisp meringue shell with a soft, marshmallow-like interior, topped with fresh whipped cream and vibrant fruits. Perfect for celebrations or a light, elegant treat, Pavlova is as visually stunning as it is delicious.

Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Fresh fruits for topping (berries, kiwi, passionfruit, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meringue

Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff, glossy peaks form. Gently fold in vinegar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract.

  2. Shape and Bake

Spoon the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet and shape into a round with slightly raised edges to hold the toppings. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, then turn off the oven and let the meringue cool completely inside the oven with the door slightly ajar.

  3. Prepare the Whipped Cream

In a bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.

  4. Assemble the Pavlova

Carefully transfer the cooled meringue to a serving plate. Spread the whipped cream evenly over the top and arrange fresh fruits as desired.

  5. Serve

Serve Pavlova immediately for the best texture, enjoying the contrast between the crisp meringue, soft cream, and juicy fruits.

Serving

Pavlova is ideal for festive occasions or as a light, elegant dessert. Garnish with a sprig of mint or a dusting of powdered sugar for added charm. The combination of textures and flavors makes this dessert a timeless favorite.
