Pârjoale (Romanian Meat Patties)

Ingredients
- 500 g (1 lb) ground pork or a mix of pork and beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 slice of bread, soaked in water or milk and squeezed
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3–4 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying
- Optional: 1 teaspoon paprika or chili flakes for a bit of heat
