Discover the classic taste of a homemade hamburger, a versatile and satisfying meal perfect for lunch, dinner, or any casual gathering. Juicy beef patties, fresh toppings, and soft buns come together to create a delicious experience that can be customized to suit every preference.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (preferably 80% lean)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- Lettuce leaves
- Pickles (optional)
- Ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise (optional)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or butter for toasting buns
Instructions
-
Prepare the Patties
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently shape them into patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
-
Cook the Patties
Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side for medium, or adjust cooking time to your preferred doneness. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.
-
Prepare the Buns
Lightly brush the cut sides of the buns with oil or butter. Toast them on the skillet or grill until golden brown.
-
Assemble the Burgers
Spread condiments of choice on the bottom bun. Layer lettuce, tomato, cooked patty with melted cheese, onion slices, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
-
Serve
Serve the hamburgers immediately while hot, paired with fries, coleslaw, or a fresh salad for a classic meal. Customize toppings to make each burger uniquely yours.
