Tipping

Tipping is customary in Colombia. In restaurants, around 10% is typical and is often suggested on the bill (“servicio”). It is also common to tip hotel staff, drivers, and guides.

Colombia uses plug types A and B (US standard). The standard voltage is 110 V with a frequency of 60 Hz.

Drinking water

Tap water is generally safe to drink in major cities like Bogotá and Medellín. In rural areas, bottled water is recommended.

The official language is Spanish. English is spoken in tourist areas but is less common elsewhere.
