Cinnamon Buns (Classic Cinnamon Roll Recipe)

Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough

    In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Add the yeast mixture and stir to combine. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.

  2. Prepare the Filling

    In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16x12 inches). Spread softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.

  3. Form the Cinnamon Buns

    Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss. Place the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each. Cover and let rise for another 30–45 minutes.

  4. Bake

    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
