Bubble Tea (Boba Tea)

Indulge in the fun and refreshing experience of Bubble Tea, a popular Taiwanese drink that combines sweet, chewy tapioca pearls with flavorful tea and milk or fruit. Perfect for a hot day or as a delightful treat anytime, Bubble Tea is versatile, customizable, and irresistibly satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup tapioca pearls
  • 2 cups water (for cooking pearls)
  • 1 cup brewed black or green tea, cooled
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy alternative)
  • 2–3 tablespoons sugar or sweetener of choice
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: flavored syrups or fruit puree

Instructions

  1. Cook the Tapioca Pearls

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add the tapioca pearls and stir gently. Cook according to package instructions, usually 5–10 minutes, until pearls are soft and chewy. Drain and rinse the pearls under cold water, then mix with 1 tablespoon of sugar or honey to keep them from sticking.

  2. Prepare the Tea Base

Brew your choice of black or green tea and let it cool to room temperature. Sweeten the tea with sugar, honey, or flavored syrup while it is still warm so it dissolves fully.

  3. Assemble the Bubble Tea

Place the cooked tapioca pearls at the bottom of a tall glass. Fill the glass with ice cubes. Pour the sweetened tea over the ice, then add milk or your preferred non-dairy alternative. Stir gently to combine.

Serving

Serve Bubble Tea with a wide straw to enjoy the chewy tapioca pearls with each sip. Customize with flavored syrups, fruit purées, or even sparkling water for a unique twist. Enjoy this playful and refreshing drink that has captured hearts worldwide.
