Ingredients

For the Pork
  • 1 lb (450 g) pork shoulder or loin, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15 g) sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 g) ground black pepper
For Serving
  • 4 cups (800 g) cooked jasmine rice
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) pickled vegetables (carrots, daikon, or cucumbers)
  • 2 cups (500 ml) clear broth (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Pork

    In a large bowl, combine coconut milk, fish sauce, sugar, garlic, soy sauce, and black pepper. Add the pork slices and mix well. Let the pork marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best flavor.

  2. Grill the Pork

    Heat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Cook the pork slices for 2–3 minutes on each side until caramelized and cooked through.

  3. Prepare the Rice and Broth

    Cook jasmine rice according to package instructions and keep warm. If serving with broth, heat it gently in a small pot.

  4. Assemble the Dish

    On a plate, serve a generous portion of rice. Top with grilled pork slices and add a side of pickled vegetables. Optionally, serve with a small bowl of broth for sipping or pouring over the rice.
