1 pound of meat (lamb, beef, or chicken), cut into bite-sized pieces
2 onions, finely chopped
3 cloves of garlic, minced
Afghan spice blend (Advieh)
2 tomatoes, diced
1 cup of lentils
1 cup of chickpeas
Water or broth
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh herbs (such as cilantro) for garnish
Begin by heating cooking oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add finely chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté until they become soft and translucent.
Add the 1 pound of meat (lamb, beef, or chicken) to the pot and cook until it's browned on all sides.
Sprinkle Afghan spice blend (Advieh) over the meat and onion mixture. Stir well to coat everything with the aromatic spices.
Add diced tomatoes to the pot and cook until the tomatoes break down and release their juices.
