Ingredients
Dough:
3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp dry yeast
1 cup (240ml) warm water
2 tbsp (30ml) olive oil
Topping:
1 lb (450g) ground beef or lamb
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 medium tomatoes, finely diced
1/4 cup (60g) red bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp (30ml) tomato paste
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup (15g) fresh parsley, chopped
1 tbsp (15ml) lemon juice
Instructions
Prepare the Dough In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes. Add flour, salt, and olive oil, kneading into a soft dough. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
Make the Topping In a large bowl, mix ground meat, onion, tomatoes, bell pepper, garlic, tomato paste, and spices. Stir in parsley and lemon juice.
Roll Out the Dough Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each into a thin circle (about 10 inches/25 cm).
Assemble and Bake Spread a thin layer of the meat mixture on each dough circle. Bake in a preheated oven at 450°F (230°C) for 7-10 minutes or until crispy.
Serving Serve hot with lemon wedges, fresh parsley, or a side of yogurt. Roll it up or enjoy it flat for an authentic experience!
