Instructions
Prepare the Pastry
In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.
Make the Filling In a medium bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
Roll and Fill the Pastry Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to 1/8-inch (3 mm) thickness.
