Ingredients

Pastry:

2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour

1/2 cup (125ml) water

1/2 tsp salt

1 tbsp (15ml) vegetable oil

1/2 lb (225g) minced beef or lamb

1/2 lb (225g) cabbage, finely shredded

1/4 lb (115g) carrots, grated

1/4 lb (115g) celery, finely chopped

1 small onion, diced

1/2 cup (50g) cooked rice

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tbsp (15ml) soy sauce

1 tbsp (15ml) Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp curry powder

1 egg, beaten (for sealing)

Oil for deep frying

Instructions

Prepare the Pastry In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and water, kneading until a firm dough forms. Add vegetable oil and knead for a few more minutes. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Cook the Filling Heat a pan over medium heat and sauté the minced meat until browned. Add onion, cabbage, carrots, and celery. Cook for 5 minutes. Stir in cooked rice, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, curry powder, salt, and pepper. Let cool.

Assemble the Rolls Roll out the dough into thin sheets and cut into rectangles. Place a generous amount of filling in the center, fold the edges, and roll tightly. Seal with beaten egg.

Fry to Perfection Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry each roll for 3-5 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
